Can I wish all my constituents a very Happy Christmas. Thankfully, we can all be with our families this year, ministers having been sensible and refrained from imposing more restrictions on us. Let's hope they do not change their tune in the next few days. Can I thank the many selfless people who are working today, not least those in the NHS as the booster programme continues. It's been a very tough year for all those in the health sector and of course for those who've needed care. I continue to be humbled by those who work for no reward or recognition, whether they be the RNLI volunteers, or the team at Island Community Action on Portland. The emergency services continue to serve us all and we are indebted to them. Those in the public sector, not least at Dorset Council, have done their level best to provide much-needed services, despite the pandemic and its consequences. Councillors of all political persuasions are all doing their best for their wards and towns and villages. And my gratitude goes to all the Mayors and Mayoresses who work so hard representing their communities. We live in the most stunning part of our dear country and, as a community, there is much we have in common and much to look forward to in 2022. A happy and peaceful New Year, too.
