After a mixed week, I headed to Crossways in the morning to visit the new development Silverlake. The former quarry is slowly being turned into a holiday site, with homes, swimming pool, tennis court, and other outdoor activities. I last went to visit two years ago and huge progress has been made. Sixty units have been sold, with 38 of them actually occupied. I and three Conservative councillors were shown around by Will Vicary, who runs the show. It was impressive, it has to be said, and scenic lakes have taken the place of unsightly quarries. A large number of organisations are involved, including environmental and conservation bodies. Afterwards, I went out canvassing in Crossways with our excellent candidate Barry Quinn, who has been a highly effective councillor with PDC for many years. It is always interesting to receive feedback on the door and several constituents did not hold back about the Brexit mess!
