Early rise and then to Portland on my motorbike to meet the two new Independent councillors, Rob Hughes and the Mayor of Portland, Cllr Susan Cocking. We met at the Jail House Cafe by the Verne prison and enjoyed a coffee or two while chatting about issues affecting the island and its inhabitants. Clearly, it is sad from our point of view that our Conservative councillors were knocked out, but that's democracy for you and we all have to move on. I know Rob and Susan quite well and both are committed to working for islanders. It was then a long hike across to the edge of Bournemouth to attend another update from the Dorset CCG. CEO Tim Goodson, accompanied by Sally Sandcraft, Phil Richardson, Elaine Hurll and Dr Karen Kirkham, via skype, were present, as were a number of my parliamentary colleagues. A whole range of issues were discussed and I was most grateful to the CCG team for their time.
