A busy day working on constituency matters. Attended another informative virtual meeting of the CRG, chaired by Mark Harper MP. Following on from the press coverage we received over our letter to the PM, which set out a road-map out of lock-down, it was interesting to hear everyone's views. I think it fair to say they are hardening, not unreasonably so, but there's definitely an opinion that we simply cannot go on like this. While on the subject of the pandemic, there's to be a large expansion of the number of people being asked to shield in England. An extra 1.7 million people are expected to be added to the 2.3 million already on the list. Half of the group have not yet been vaccinated so will now be prioritised urgently by their local GPs. It comes after a new model was developed that takes into account extra factors rather than just health. Abroad, the story of the daughter of Dubai's ruler continues to make headlines. She tried to flee the country in 2018, before later sending secret video messages to friends accusing her father of holding her "hostage" as she feared for her life. In footage shared with BBC Panorama, Princess Latifa Al Maktoum says commandos drugged her as she fled by boat and flew her back to detention. The secret messages have stopped - and friends are urging the UN to step in. Dubai and the UAE have previously said she is safe in the care of family. All very strange.
