Out for a run and into the Commons. A busy morning, with David Lidington standing in for Mrs May, who was attending the funeral of the murdered journalist in N Ireland. Another tragic incident in the history of this troubled part of the UK. With an Opposition Day occupying the Chamber, I first met a young constituent, who suffers from a rare disorder. She'd come to the Commons to attend a meeting of the APPG that deals with this issue, and on which we have tried to help. Sufferers are trying to secure a very expensive, but successful, drug, and we are still waiting to hear what the NHS plans to do. A meeting of our European Scrutiny Committee followed in private. I then met with a small band of Conservative colleagues to discuss Brexit, or perhaps the lack of it. The meeting was in confidence. Then, as the House dropped to a one-line whip, I met with my Whip as she sought an update on current issues. I managed to leave for Dorset at about 1700.
