What a day! It's been a day of reading, reading and reading. We have had little time to really understand what is on offer on Saturday, but time is tight and that is not the fault of the PM. I have turned down endless requests to do media interviews because I do not want to speculate on tomorrow's outcome, and I want to keep my powder dry until the vote itself. I shall of course be in the Chamber tomorrow to listen to the debate. Enough said for now. The day ended with good news that the Sandbanks ferry would be back in service - weather permitting - on 31 October, a rather fortuitous date! The company issues a press release, which said: “We’re pleased to report that work on the ferry has been continuing on schedule at the repair facility in Southampton. All the replacement parts are now on site, and the hydraulic coupling manufacturer engineer from Sweden will be in attendance this weekend to supervise the installation. Final testing in Southampton is scheduled for next week prior to a planned tow back to Dorset, followed by final testing once back on chains. We’re still aiming to return the ferry to service by the 31st October and will be providing regular updates via our social channels and our website.” That's good news as the closure of this service has undoubtedly called hardship, especially for the smaller businesses, such as pubs.
