With the minimum threat of rain, I thought it time to get back on to my steel horse for more constituency commitments. First stop was DCH. There I met Chairman Mark Addison and Director of Strategy Nick Johnson. They could not have been more helpful and we chatted through quite a few topics, not least funding for a new A&E centre, which is much needed. I shall continue to do all that I can to help. Then a short ride to County Hall to meet Cllr Andrew Parry, Cabinet Member for Education. I had asked to meet him during the election campaign when several matters came up at hustings and on the doorstep. He is immensely helpful and I am very grateful to him. A quick stop at the BMW motorbike franchise for a tyre check and then across to Portland Port to meet the Director of Powerfuel, Giles Frampton, who is proposing a waste plant on the east side of the island, which is proving controversial. The meeting was in private, but I did raise many concerns that have been passed to me by constituents and there is a long way to go before this plant is built. The company will be going through the full planning process and there will be plenty of time for islanders and others to have their say. The meeting lasted some time as there was a lot to go through. It was dark by the time I got back to my office to finish a number of letters.
