Well, well, we now have the election that the PM has been consistently calling for. The Government put down a simple Bill which if enacted would knock out the dreadful Fixed Term Parliament Act. It was another gamble by Mr Johnson, but this time it paid off. None of us were 100 per cent sure what was happening in Labour circles, but we got wind that many MPs were not happy at all at Corbyn's decision to vote for an election. Anyway, after the PM and Corbyn had had their say, a short debate followed, which concluded with a vote. One LD amendment had been chosen by Deputy Speaker Lindsay Hoyle and that called for an election on 9 December. It was defeated, and the GE will now be held on Thursday, 12 December. Bearing in mind the impasse Parliament finds itself in, a GE is the only way out, and I just hope that voters will give us the majority we need to not only honour the 2016 referendum, but to get on with our domestic plans too. Good news - the Sandbanks ferry will be operating again on Thursday, 31 October. This will be a huge relief to all and sundry and let's hope this does not happen again.
