The House had been prorogued but I had a meeting with the PM at 1400 so went in to the Commons after a morning run. The protesters were still there, of course, and the rubbish continues to pile up. At 1315, I met with other colleagues for a pre-meeting and then we all wandered down to No 10. The police had pushed the protesters away from the entrance down towards Trafalgar Square, so getting into No 10 wasn't quite such an obstacle course. Mr Johnson arrived just after 1400 and gave eight of us 35 minutes, which was extremely generous of him considering all that is going on. What we discussed is confidential and shall remain so. Afterwards, I hopped back on to my motorcycle, managed to escape the road blocks and headed for the M3. Conditions were appalling and I battled for three hours to Winfrith through wind, rain and a pile up. If I had not been on my motorbike, I would not have reached my Association office at all. As it was, I did get there just after 1800 and sat down with my team to discuss various political matters. Home for supper at 2000. Tired!
