I had the honour of being asked to open a Chaplaincy Room at Portland Port. This was the brainchild of Reverend Jonathan Bayliff, a former submariner, who works for the Sailors' Society. It's a charity that looks after sailors from around the world, providing assurance and guidance when they are often a long way from home. The Room had been kindly given by Bill Reeves, the CEO of the Port, who attended the official opening, along with the island's charming Mayor and many others. I had time to come home and say farewell to a member of staff who is moving on to another job, before heading to Corfe Castle to campaign there. Again, the feedback on the door was warm, and, again, there was frustration at the lack of Brexit. But there elections are about local issues and not national ones and I hope voters take that into account.
