Run and into the Commons. First meeting was with a colleague of mine Lee Rowley, MP for NE Derbyshire. He wanted to chat about fracking and raise his concerns about Government proposals to allow energy companies to explore for fossil fuel without planning permission. If fuel was found, then permission would have to be sought. Straight afterwards, I met a former member of Zac Goldsmith's staff, Isabella Gornell, who was set up her own environmental PC company. She wanted to talk about seahorses, MCZs and the Fishing Bill. PMQs followed at midday and Corbyn aimed all six questions at Brexit. It certainly was not a memorable session, with little gain by either side. A quick sandwich at my desk and then to my weekly ESC under the able chairmanship of Sir William Cash. His knowledge on all EU matters is frightening! The meeting was private so I am unable to reveal what was discussed. I then took a pre-planned call from Justice Minister Lucy Fraser. Again the topic is confidential, but she was seeking my advice on a policy change that I have already raised concerns about. At 1600 I attended an hour's meeting with Oliver Letwin and Simon Hoare, where we chatted through the implications of unitary authorities next May and how this would affect existing planning applications, especially for housing. One vote at about 1900 and then back to Dorset.
