It was always going to be an interesting day, and so it proved. It began with a run and then into the House. I attended a meeting of the Whips at 1015, to hear the running order for the day. Into the Chamber at about 1140 for PMQs. The PM received a loud cheer as she arrived and dealt the weekly clash with Corbyn well. A Statement and Ten Minute Rule Bill delayed the start of the 90 minute debate on the Lords' amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill. Actually, it was Dominic Grieve's amendment, which was aimed at making Brexit much, much harder and would have tied Mrs May's hands during the no-going negotiations. I listened to the speeches, particularly enjoying Philip Davies's as he launched into the Remainers in our Party with humour, something they cannot handle. Speeches done, we all wandered off to the Division Lobby to vote, hoping that we would secure the numbers to win the day. We did by 319 to 303. Regrettably, six of our Remainers voted against the Government, which genuinely saddened me, especially as Mr Grieve had backed down and said so. I shall never be certain what was going through their minds, but, with the arguments well and truly aired, it was time to rally behind Mrs May. I then stayed on in the Chamber to take part in the NATO debate, which was interesting and lasted to 1900. Then on to my motorcycle and back to Dorset. What a day and thankfully one that saw our great country take another step to delivering what the people have asked us to do.
