Routine matters in the morning and two confidential meetings in the afternoon. The first of these was with the Chief Whip, who appeared at the end of our meeting due to other commitments. Then up to CR12 for the ERG's weekly gathering, under the chairmanship of Jacob Rees-Mogg. With Members of both Houses present, it was again well attended and all the contributions were most informative and interesting. A Government minister ended the meeting in a most reassuring way. For my own part, I have faith in the PM when she says we are leaving the Single Market and the Custom Union. To remain in the latter, in whatever guise, and what some would like, would undermine the very reason we are leaving the EU. We are leaving the EU in its entirety - no ifs or buts. And if we do not honour the referendum vote in June 2016, I believe the reputation and integrity of each MP, and Parliament itself, would be damaged for decades to come. It would make the expenses' row look like a walk in the park.
