The long wait is over and The Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) has won its appeal to erect a new campus at Southwell business park. The Academy has £14 million to create the facilities for hundreds of children across the island currently being educated at four existing schools. The Academy's second site at Osprey Quay is already up and running. This plan has been a long time coming, with many objecting to the location and the effect the move will have on the industrial estate and nearby homes. Others disagreed with the Academy's philosophy from the start. However, all that is in the past now and it's time for everyone to move on. There's no doubt that the old school buildings needed a major upgrade, so hopefully this new campus will meet all expectations.
