Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset has said how delighted he is to hear that half a million pounds of new capital funding has been granted to Weymouth College.
‘This is great news,’ he said, ‘And it could not have come at a better time. Weymouth College urgently needed support for their renewal proposals and I am delighted that the Department for Education recognized the real difference this would make to our students and to South Dorset.’
‘The grant of £500,276 will allow Weymouth College to go ahead with a £1.5 million renewal project, which will transform the facilities it offers to students’ says Drax.
‘I understand that they will be building a real, front of house hair and beauty salon, where students can learn and which will be open to the public. And the restaurant facilities – already open to the public and managed by the students – will be upgraded.’
‘This is a welcome boost in these austere times. I congratulate the head of Weymouth College, Liz Miles, and look forward to seeing the finished update.’
