Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset has warmly welcomed almost £900,000 of Government funding for a Weymouth Scout group.
As part of the Youth Investment Fund (YIF), aimed at building or renovating up to 300 youth facilities over the next two years, Weymouth West Air Scout Group will receive £873,828.00 to renovate and extend their facilities.
“I am delighted at this news,” says Drax, “This will help the Weymouth Scout group to support an additional 78 young people a year. I have spoken to the Scout leaders and they are equally thrilled. This kind of money is transformative and will enable the Scouts to continue and enhance their invaluable work with young people.”
The grant forms part of the third tranche of the Youth Investment Fund which is providing over £90 million to rebuild or refurbish 140 projects across the country.
In total, the Youth Investment Fund is providing over £300 million of funding over the next two years, with the aim of supporting an additional 45,000 young people each year to access youth facilities. Some projects are already underway.
