SIR – With so many distractions pushing us off course, the need to return to our core values must be a priority. We need gut conservatism.
So, can I suggest we:
– lower and reform taxation;
– reduce the size of the state;
– prioritise food and energy security;
– invest further in our Armed Forces;
– increase productivity;
– overhaul a bureaucratic NHS;
– set aims, not unachievable targets;
– and do even more to get people off welfare and into work.
We are living in challenging times, but opportunities beckon if we have the courage to take them.
If we don’t act, I see another path for our country; one I fear would be divisive and ruinous.
