Up early and into the office. Routine matters resolved, I headed to the Tank Museum to meet with Director Richard Smith, a delightful man, who has really brought the museum on over the past 11 years. We chatted for more than an hour on museum matters, while downing some rather good fresh coffee and biscuits. Our conversation was in confidence so I cannot give anything away, other than to say that visitor numbers are up and income sources are reassuring. Then it was off to Lulworth estate office for my regular quarterly meeting with S Dorset farmers. I always look forward to these events, which are kindly run by the NFU. The good news is that Minister George Eustice has confirmed that he is coming to talk to farmers at Kingston Maurward on the 24th. So today we chatted through the agenda, which had five topics on it. Making notes furiously, I returned home and drafted a letter immediately to the Department. With Brexit looming, the agricultural world is keenly interested in what the Government is planning to do on matters such as foreign workers and of course subsidies. Much to chew over.
