Into the House by 0845 and straight up to my office. Through the papers and emails before walking across to PCH to meet representatives from the Federation of Small Businesses. It was good of them to come to the Commons with the views and concerns of their members. Matters included quarterly reporting, the single market, infrastructure, labour, finance and regulations. I remained for an hour, enjoying the session and learning much from it. I was then due to meet up with regional ITV across the road for an interview regarding the Marine A case. Walking in the rain meant that I was a wee bit wet when I eventually sank into the interview chair at ITV's HQs. A kind cameraman solved the issue and before I knew it he was dabbing away at my suit to remain some stubborn rain drops. Back to the House where I enjoyed a Christmas lunch with my staff, who do a wonderful job for my constituents. Lunch over, I headed into the Chamber for the debate on the Neighbourhood Planning Bill. In short, the Bill introduces regulations to ensure that local people have more of a say in local planning matters. Neighbourhood plans should be given serious consideration when housing is considered. Planning has always been a contentious issue and it's rare, if ever, that everyone is satisfied with an eventual outcome. I did speak for a few minutes to raise some concerns and my speech is on the website.
