Another busy day at the office. First, my morning jaunt in the park, after which I cycled in to the Commons, which is always a risky exercise as everyone seems intent on running you over. Other cyclists are the worst! We had a 16-year-old work experience lady called Rosa in for the day and she certainly saw a fair bit, including a fractious PMQs. Starmer predictably started on the appalling comments made by a donor about Diane Abbott. The session went downhill from there, with both sides exchanging blows. A quick sandwich before dropping in on a campaign about an eating disorder, which affects one of my constituents. Then I headed to CR16 for another session of our European Scrutiny Committee. Our witness was the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, no less. Kemi Badenoch answered question on EU Retained Law, of which there are still about 6,000. The Government is getting through them. but slowly, and we asked why. The session can be seen on Parliament TV. After 1600 there were several votes as the changes to National Insurance went through the Chamber. The last vote came after 1800. Rosa was picked up by her Mum and brother at 1630. She hopes to go to Oxford. Good on her.
