Down to Weymouth to hold a street stall outside Debenhams. As always, the feedback was most interesting. Issues raised included immigration, the armed forces and the EU. After a while I headed to a new martial arts centre off Lynch Lane. I'd been asked to officially open it by director and 5th Dan Peter Thompson. Peter has moved his business several times and he's delighted with his latest choice. Bright and airey, I was met by a team of white-clad martial arts' experts of all ages. After the official opening, I chatted to many members. The young there particuarly caught my attention because of the devotion they had shown to the sport. One teenager started learning karate at five years old and is now an accomplished Black Belt. Just before I had to leave, I watched Peter spar with another Black Belt. It was awesome seeing how such power and control can be used to destroy an opponent. It was a very happy occasion and I was very touched to be asked to open the centre. Back to the square to meet more constituents and I must report one amusing incident. Three young people, one an American lady of 18, accompanied by two young boys from Littlemoor, came up to me and handed me a bar of chocolate wiht a card attached. On the card were the words: "Because you're loved." I am sure it's not often that a politician of any colour gets a card like that! Anway, for a wee, short while I was loved, and I did chuckle. I chatted to three, thanking them for their kindness, before they wandered off to dispense more love. Great stuff. Then back home myself to spend some time with my elderly parents.
