As the weather holds over this fabulous Easter weekend, it's hard to take in that nearly 10,000 people have died of coronavirus in the UK. And, for the second day in a row, more than 900 deaths were recorded in hospitals. The PM has said that he owes his life to the NHS staff who treated him in hospital for Covid-19. Hopefully, he will be sensible and regain his strength before coming back to work. There are still on-going concerns at the lack of PPE. From all the inquiries I make, I know there are large quantities out there, although some from China don't pass muster apparently. Meanwhile, the police have received some negative press for over-egging the pudding, but in Dorset they appear to be handling this lock-down well. Across the country, more than 1,000 fines have been issued to people not following social distancing measures. Martin Hewitt, chair of the National Police Chiefs Council, said most people spoken to by officers had understood the rules but a "small minority" had refused to comply. Worryingly, domestic abuse is up and services are to receive an extra £2 million as the Home Office launches a new support campaign during the lock-down.
