I want to pay tribute to a friend and colleague who tragically died while out running recently. Cllr Tony Ferrari represented the Ward of Littlemoor & Preston on Dorset Council, in addition to being a Weymouth Town councillor for the Preston & Sutton Poyntz Ward. He and his wife Erica moved to Dorset from Harrow eight years ago and since then Tony held several key appointments in both councils, serving his constituents diligently. It was typical of the man that he immersed himself in local issues, being the interim chairman of the Littlemoor Community Action Group and a supporter of the local food bank, especially during the pandemic. Tony was an experienced runner so the manner of his death is shocking. I knew him well and we frequently worked together on council matters. His ready sense of humour endeared him to all those he met. I will be attending his funeral at Weymouth Crematorium on Friday, 15 December, at 1300. Tony will be missed by many, not least his family, friends and council colleagues. Life can be so unfair at times, and Tony's premature passing only underlines how important it is we live life to the full. My deepest sympathy to the family.
