An early morning run and into the office. PMQs was particularly uninspiring, considering it was the last one before the Easter break. Corbyn chose mental health as his topic. The gloss is falling off this man as his true colours are revealed. Anti-semetism is rife in the Labour Party, quite apart from the bullying of moderate MPs by the extreme Left of his Party. God help us if Corbyn ever became PM. Afternoon spent doing a variety of tasks, including preparing for a ministerial meeting later in the afternoon and writing my weekly newspaper column. At 1630 I met Cllr Jeff Cant, who heads the Management Committee at Weymouth & Portland BC, and Martin Hamilton, a senior official at the council. We had a 30 minute pre-meeting to prepare for our chat with DCLG minister Jake Berry. I, along with the council, have been pushing for funds to improve Weymouth's creaking infrastructure, not least the harbour walls and flood defences. Mr Berry could not have been more accommodating and said that he would be sending his officials down to Weymouth to meet ours to discuss how we can achieve the aim. Cllr Cant briefed the minister of some exciting projects planned for the town and welcomed, like me, Government plans to target towns like ours for investment. Hurrah! We'd moved to a one-line by the time we finished the meeting, so I worked through to 1900 and then headed to Dorset.
