Out for a run on an extremely cold morning. A busy day working on constituency matters, not least replying to several constituents concerned about the proposed new train tirme-table by the SWR. I have met the new CEO to pass on other concerns and he reassured me that they were listening. Interestingly, I was summoned to No 10 for a meeting with the PM's chief of staff Gavin Barwell, a former MP. The PM's PPS was there too and we had a most useful meeting that clearly was in confidence. What is heartening is that Mr Barwell is keeping his ear close to the ground and proving a most effective conduit between backbenchers and the PM. A working lunch at my desk and plenty more constituency work to deal with. Votes on the EU Withdrawal Bill came at about 2115, then home at about 2215.
