Back into the House after recess and it wasn't long before I was bumping into colleagues with much to say! I spent the morning catching up with my two assistants and constituency and parliamentary matters. The afternoon saw two Urgent Questions and one Statement, before the House got on to the main business. I participated in an UQ on Birmingham Prison and the Statement on EU negotiations by Dominic Raab, the Brexit Secretary. Then at 1830 I attended a full meeting of the ERG, before heading to another meeting, called by my friend Richard Benyon, on how we can best protect our military veterans from false and malicious allegations, often lodged many years after the alleged event. It is a disgrace that our Service men and women who served during the Troubles in N Ireland are still being pursued some decades later. An interesting first day back!
