Up early and into the office. Time to go through routine matters before heading to Osmington to meet a constituent and some of her neighbours who are concerned at the huge amount of traffic using a narrow public footpath to access a children's adventure centre near Osmington. The lane is in fact a private road, owned by PGL Travel Ltd, the company which runs the former holiday camp. The issue is the number of huge coaches that struggle up and down this access and block the main road through Osmington as they turn into and come out of the entrance. There are more issues too. So over a coffee I listened intently to residents' concerns, although all of them were very supportive of the centre itself. I think there may well be a solution to this dispute and I have written a constructive and lengthy letter to the manager and DCC in the hope of finding a way forward. In the evening, we held a very successful Association event at the Hix Restaurant at Weymouth College. The students did their lecturers proud, serving us all perfectly and professionally. We said farewell to our former Chairman and President David Crowhurst, who, with his lovely wife Geraldine, have played such a significant role for the Conservatives over many decades. They are moving to the Cotswolds to be nearer their family and we wished them both well.
