My column (on the website) today follows the chaotic scenes in the Commons on Wednesday night. It concerns the future of our democracy and this rise in intimidation and threats against MPs, and others in the public sector, are worrying. There is a growing intolerance, with protesters turned into activists, who think nothing of targeting private homes and offices. These weekly, pro-Palestinian marches in London are becoming ugly. They block our capital city, frighten those who are doing nothing more than going about their daily business, or enjoying the sights, and enough is enough. If they want to continue protesting, these gatherings should be confined to places like Hyde Park and classified as rallies. Another busy day on constituency matters and an interesting virtual meeting with the Leader of Dorset Council, Cllr Spencer Flower. They managed to get their Budget through with a handsome majority and I congratulated him on that. We discussed other private matters and the update was most helpful. In other news, a 500kg (1,102lb) German World War Two bomb that forced the evacuation of thousands of people in Plymouth was detonated at sea. UK household energy bills to fall as Ofgem lowers price cap by 12.3%. Abroad, Alexei Navalny's mother was told to agree to a "secret" burial for the Putin critic within three hours. Shamima Begum lost an appeal against the removal of her British citizenship. And firefighters and forensic authorities in Spain said nine bodies had been recovered from the ruins of a 14-floor apartment complex after fire tore through it in Valencia. Finally, Ukrainian refugees living in the UK breathed a sigh of relief earlier this week after the Home Office announced it would give them another 18-month extension on their visas.
