At last, the rain decided to stay away. A brimming constituency in-tray kept me busy until 1145, when I hopped on to my motorbike and headed to Weymouth to meet one of our excellent council candidates, Clare Wall. We met at the clock on the Esplanade, where a row is brewing over bicycle access. Clare runs a B&B and is very well connected in the town. She is fully aware of all the issues and was keen for me to meet retailers to hear their concerns. This we did and it was a very interesting and informative afternoon. Much to follow up on. In other news, a former managing director of the Post Office said he understood the “anger and upset caused” after appearing to celebrate the conviction of a pregnant sub-postmistress who was eventually jailed. This really is a terrible story of injustice. And, abroad, OJ Simpson, the former American football star turned actor, who was controversially cleared of double murder, died aged 76.
