Mr Pickles stood up for the Christian faith the other day and he was lambasted; now it's David Cameron's turn. I would like to congratulate the Prime Minister for reminding us all that the UK is a Christian country. Inevitably, this Easter message met with accusations from a handful of writers, broadcasters and scientists that the Prime Minister's comments were divisive, harming society and fostering "alienation". They added that elected members of a Government have no right to "actively prioritise" religion of any faith. I have never heard such rubbish in my life. The UK is a Christian country, and long may it remain so. I'm not saying for one minute that every church is full to bursting, when they're not. But consciously and subconsciously the country's rules and expectations are based on Christian teaching and that must never be undermined for the sake of political correctness on the one hand and something far worse on the other.
