They queued up to give business leaders their vision of the future. The CBI gathering no doubt listened intently as speakers including David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Boris Johnson gave their two-penn'orth. I may be wrong, but I don't think any of them talked about reducing state expenditure, or reducing punitive rates of tax that impede growth in this country. There were Churchillian cries for everyone to pull together, dire warnings about leaving the EU and advice on how to swing a handbag, but it was light on what business leaders really wanted to hear, what they really need, to return to their businesses and factories and turn the faltering ship around. The time for talk is over if we really want our country to thrive. Only action will do.
