RICHARD DRAX MP will meet Clive Chamberlain, Dorset Police Federation Chairman at Dorset Police headquarters on Thursday, June 17th.
This will be their first meeting since the election and issues to be covered include the continued civilianisation of the police service, bureaucracy, the shootings in Cumbria and elected commissioners.
The meeting comes just a week after Richard had discussions with the Chief Constable of Dorset Police, Martin Baker.
A stalwart supporter of the police, Richard Drax has maintained good relations with the force during his candidacy over the past four years.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Richard, the Conservative MP for South Dorset, said: “I have a very good dialogue with the federation, which is important as the organisation representing the front line police service.
“I am encouraged to hear Mr Chamberlain say that he approves of the way that the coalition government is approaching policing; not least the Home Secretary’s comment that the police must be allowed to get on with it, without interference from politicians.
“This is something I also believe passionately; the more we can leave those in charge to run their organisations, the better.”
