A busy morning in the office in Dorset and then, in glorious sunshine, to London on my motorbike. A clear run saw me at my desk in about two and a half hours' time, where various constituency matters awaited. A meeting with our Police & Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill had been cancelled so I was free to prepare a speech for tomorrow on the Lords' attempts to undermine our Press. At 1630 I headed to No 9 for our regular meeting, this time with a junior Brexit minister, to whom we explained our concerns. Back then for a meeting with my Whip and then to the Jubillee Room for another regular meeting of the ERG, chaired brilliantly by Jacob Rees-Mogg. Interestingly, a number of the PM's private staff were present and I managed to speak to one of them about Brexit and the on-going uncertainty. This was a confidential meeting so I cannot reveal all, but I was a little reassured by what he had to say. Jacob spoke eloquently, as always, and Government Brexit minister Steve Baker brought us up to date. Meanwhile, the un-elected Peers continue to undermine the will of the people. Voting went on to about 2200 and then home.
