An early start and then I teamed up with my Mum and brothers to scatter my Pa's ashes. This was a very moving ceremony, as you can imagine, and Pa joined many others of our family in Highwood Garden, a place he loved and nurtured. Afterwards, I hopped on to my motorcycle and in brilliant autumn sunshine headed to Dorchester and County Hall. There I met up with my friend and colleague Oliver Letwin, council officers and senior councillors to discuss the Weymouth relief road. We have a long way to go, and there's no guarantee of success, but, for the sake of future jobs and prosperity in Weymouth and Portland, we must look at it. We discussed much over 90 minutes and decided on a course of action which we will now follow up on. Down to Weymouth next for my regular surgery at the borough council offices. Traffic was building as I headed home, but nothing that I could not cope with on a motorbike.
