Up early and into the office. Then to London arriving at the Commons early afternoon. A meeting with me team and catch-up. The Commons remains pretty quiet at the moment, with both leadership contenders still battling it out away from here. To my huge disappointment, Roger Federer lost the finals at Wimbledon to the No 1 seed Novak Djokovic. It was a belter of a match, running to five sets and ending with the new tie-break at 12-all. Meanwhile, the England cricket team won the cricket World Cup by the tightest margin possible. So well done to them. In the Commons, a section of the HS2 project was debated. In the Lords, they debated the N Ireland Bill, which is due to come back to us on Thursday, as I understand it.
