Another busy day, working on a number of constituency issues. The middle part of the day was taken up with a long overdue visit to The Swanage School. Once there I was met by Headmaster Tristram Hobson, who radiates a bubbly enthusiasm which is infectious. It's hard to believe that this school did not exist only a few years ago. Now after a lot of hard work and determination by people like Paul Angel, the school is roaring ahead, with excellent academic results and a growing reputation for excellence which is reaching far and wide. After a private chat and an excellent fresh coffee, Tristram took me on a 30 minute tour of the school. We popped into several lessons, chatting to the students and listening to their lessons. In one classroom, they were all so engaged with their teacher talking about the law that we could not get a word in edgeways and quietly slipped out. The school has a great future, with more students and excellent and dedicated teachers. A lot of the credit must go to the Head, though, as a good school takes leadership and vision and Tristram has a lot of both. News came in that an aid convoy has been bombed in Syria. Accusations are flying left and right, with the Russians in the frame. Whoever did it, they have committed a war crime, attacking and killing innocent civilians trying to bring relief to this war-torn part of the world. It is a terrible time out there and who knows where incidents like this lead.
