A busy morning and then to Portland on my motorbike. A beautiful sunny day for a ride. First to revisit a specialist company called Tods Defence, which makes highly secretive bits and bobs for submarines and surface ships. MD Peter Eckersall had gathered his team together before another short briefing and then a tour of the site. What a charming team Peter has. Most come from Weymouth and Portland and a significant number are over 50. There is a serious skills shortage and this must be addressed if we are to thrive post Brexit. Then, running behind time, it was down the hill a bit to the former Underhill Junior School site, which is now being redeveloped by Calibre Developments Ltd. There I met Director Richard Murphy, who told me he was building 21 new homes, which will have the most incredible view of Chesil Beach. There is an issue over two affordable homes, which I think I can help with. Afterwards, it was off to Littlemoor to visit a constituent there who needs my help. I had a chat with him and his lovely daughter and will do what I can to assist.
