Snow across the country provided a challenging start to Monday. After a morning in the office, I headed to London to listen to the Prime Minister make a statement on the latest news on our EU negotiations. Mrs May spoke well and confidently and answered questions for circa two hours as MP after MP rose to catch the Speaker's eye. I was called eventually which gave me the opportunity to listen to most of the session. As I say, Mrs May did well, sounding confident and clearly relieved that negotiations can now move on to trade talks. I shall reserve judgement on how this goes as I'm afraid I simply do not trust the EU. It's striking when you note that, on one side of the negotiating table, you have democratically elected politicians, while on the other, you have unelected bureaucrats. It rather says it all to me. Anyway, let's hope that trade talks can start and a sensible deal can be reached. It's in everyone's interest for these talks to be successful. A short stint in the office and then off to a Christmas supper with NTB. We had a fun evening, returning to the House for votes at 2200.
