To all those loved-up couples out there, a happy Valentine's Day. With Storm Dennis heading our way, it looks like a weekend indoors. The Cabinet reshuffle makes all the front pages, with my colleague Sajid Javid out in the cold having resigned yesterday. Politics! One minute you're up, the next you come crashing down. Today was a sad day as many mourners came to remember our friend and colleague Mike Lovell, who died unexpectedly in his home a short while ago. A county, district and parish councillor for many years, he was a popular and gentle man, whose roots were firmly planted in Purbeck for all his 70 years. The Service at St George's Church in Langton Matravers was taken poignantly by the Reverend James Mercer, who gave an informative address. Cllr Gary Suttle, read out a eulogy written by Cllr Bill Trite, who could not be there. As I said, the church was packed and I sat beside my friend and former Association chairman George Preston. Many of Mike's colleagues were there, too. Mike died alone, sadly, and I only hope it was quick.
