With the sun shining, it was madness not to hop on my motorcycle and head to Portland. I had been asked to attend the relaunch of the CAB there. I arrived at 1030, to find the centre packed with people, including both Mayors, councillors, volunteers and the local press. CAB's Helen Goldsach, a most charming woman who I have met at the CAB in Wareham, is standing in as the new manager to get it off the ground. She is able supported by volunteers, who really do deserve all the praise I can heap on them. After some short speeches, we all enjoyed the most delicious sponge cake and I remained chatting to as many people as I could for some time. I eventually had to go to get across to Poole to see the Dorset LEP boss Jim Stewart, who I have met before. Our meeting was in private but I think I can say that funding for the west of the county was one of the reasons I'd come to see him.
