Two by-elections dominated the news today, one in Copeland, the other in Stoke-on-Trent. We are hoping to win both, which would be remarkable as they are safe Labour seats. While the constituents of those two seats were going to the ballot box, I was in Weymouth visiting the College, which is always an immensely enjoyable task. Principal Nigel Evans and this team have turned the College around, no small achievement bearing in mind the financial difficulties it got itself into. I met up with the team that is going to put on our fourth Apprenticeship Fair on Friday, 10 March. I have asked Tim Martin, the colourful CEO of Wetherspoons to come down and address the fair, which he has kindly agreed to do. He was last down here during the EU referendum campaign when he joined me, Nigel Farage and Labour's Kate Hoey on the stage at the Pavilion to promote the Leave argument. This fair is now playing its part in helping hundreds of apprentices make their way in work and that is the aim. I am hugely indebted to the College for holding it their and for running it. In the afternoon, I had several private meetings in Weymouth with various people, all of which were most interesting.
