A large part of a busy day was taken up attending the funeral of Valerie Bundy, the beloved wife of Nigel Bundy, one of our councillors. The poignant service was held at Weymouth crematorium and many people came to pay their respects, including our Association chairman Caroline Nickinson. Their daughter Katherine bravely took on a reading, while the vicar gave a short address about Val. Poor man had trouble with the console which controls the curtains and music, first closing the curtains prematurely and then getting no response when pressing the button for the music at the end of the service. Fortunately staff were on hand to help and Nigel was brave enough to inject some humour, saying that Val would be chuckling over the hiccups. Val was far too young to be taken from her family and I am finding that this dreaded cancer is touching more and more people I know, some, like Val, far too young to suffer from it. One day let's hope a cure is found. I am sure one is out there.
