Up early and out into the park for some exercise. Into the Commons where, after routine matters, I prepared to speak during this afternoon's Budget debate. Before that, though, I had three visitors. Ange Wright, Deputy Headteacher of All Saints CE School, and Head Boy Joe Woodhouse and Head Girl Rachel Archer, came up to see how the Commons works. By the time I met them at 1140, they'd been on a shortened tour, so were full of knowledge and enthusiasm. I managed to get them into PMQs and they sat in front of the partition, looking straight down on our Benches. They'd chosen well, with a lively session and good banter between the two main protagonists. Mrs May won hands down, with Corbyn becoming more and more screechy as the session went on. No doubt effective for his social media contribution! At the end of PMQs I remained in the Chamber as I was due to speak and my assistant kindly took the three guests to lunch. To my surprise, I did not have too long to wait before I was called by Madam Deputy Speaker but we'd been limited to five minutes only by then. My speech is on the website. We have to be careful not to play the Marxist game of promising billions of pounds to the many good causes just to keep everyone happy. First, that is impossible and, second, we have a responsibility to spend hard-earned taxpayers' money wisely. Corbyn would ruin our country were he ever to win power. He either doesn't know how wealth is created, or simply ignores it, seeing every hard-working citizen as a cash-cow, to be milked as often as he can get away with it. I mentioned Venezuela, Corbyn's flagship country, and you should have heard the howls from the Labour Benches. They just don't like it up 'em! Votes on the Budget come tomorrow night.
