A virtual meeting with my parliamentary staff began the day. A lot of discuss. There are several on-going issues bubbling away, including a proposal to erect a rail along Custom House Quay in Weymouth, prioritising a bid to the Levelling Up Fund and chatting to the new Weymouth Inspector, David Parr. On the virus front, under-30s in the UK are to be offered an alternative Covid vaccine to the AstraZeneca jab due to the evidence linking it to rare blood clots. The recommendation came after a review by the UK drugs regulator found that by the end of March 79 people had suffered rare blood clots after vaccination - 19 of whom had died. The regulator said this was not proof the jab had caused the clots, but it said the link was getting firmer. And, tragically, a body found in a pond in Essex was confirmed as London student Richard Okorogheye. The 19-year-old, who had sickle cell disease, had not been seen by his family since 22 March when he left their home in Ladbroke Grove. Officers searching for the Oxford Brookes student found a body in a pond in Epping Forest on Monday evening.
