Today the new museum in Kimmeridge was officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant Angus Campbell. This museum is a magnificent feat of sheer determination and of course the dedication and diligence of Steve Etches, who has collected fossils since he was five years old. Everything he has found is now exhibited in this state of the art museum, which makes fascinating viewing. What Steve does not know about this topic is not worth knowing. He is completely self taught and even today baffles the bigwigs with his sound understanding of a world many millions of years ago. Mr Campbell have a very good opening address to more than 100 distinguished guests, some of whom had travelled a long way. Steve himself beamed from ear to ear throughout and rightly so. A nicer, more humble man you could not wish to meet. I had to leave before the end to bike across to Weymouth to attend another of my regular surgeries in Weymouth. Afterwards, I went to the opening of a new restaurant on the Esplanade, run by Adam Foster and his charming family. It was a very happy occasion and the restaurant was soon full of friends and family. I wish them well.
