A busy morning working on constituency matters and then to Swanage to join Bobby Alexander to sell poppies in the Co-op. Bobby is the branch chairman of the Royal British Legion and every year I join him to sell poppies. It is always a fun time as we stand and chat to shoppers, many of whom are incredibly generous. In the background, I could see a busy Swanage Railway, with one of its iconic steam locomotives puffing and wheezing in and out of the station. After two hours, I had to leave to visit a very special birthday lady. At 109 Lillian Priest is still firing on all cylinders. I joined her in her home and was met by her charming daughter. What a lady Lillian is. We chatted for more than an hour, with our discussion ranging from World War Two to her trips out with her daughter. It was very humbling meeting Lillian as she had very clear views on many things and she has seen a lot in her long life.
