An early rise and to County Hall in Dorchester by 0830. My first meeting was with Martyn Underhill, Dorset's Police & Crime Commissioner, and his team. We chatted about a proposed rise in the precept and the welcome arrival of Government monies to fund another 50 officers in Dorset. Have campaigned for this for a long time. Then, in the same building, I met with the council's CEO, Matt Prosser, the Leader Cllr Spencer Flower, and two other senior cllrs. We chatted through some macro items, not least funding. Then down to Swanage to meet Mount Scar Headteacher Martin Godfrey, who could not have been more helpful. Our conversation was in confidence and we soon established a rapport. Plenty of other constituency matters to be dealing with, not least the proposed waste incinerator on Portland.
