Back to back meetings all day. A visit by 10 and 11 year olds from Radipole School was the highlight of my day. They'd had a tour and a session on how this place works before I met them all. As always, they asked interesting questions and had clearly enjoyed and learnt a lot from their visit. They are well organised. The European Scrutiny Committee meeting was held in private, so nothing further there to report. Meanwhile, Boris and Jeremy Hunt continue to slug it out, with the latter sadly reverting to personal abuse, which is never the right way to win friends and influence people. I was interviewed by David Wood of ITV West Country about why I am backing Boris. The answer is simple. One: he will take us out of the EU on 31 October. Two: he can unite both country and Party. And, three: he can defeat Corbyn, a very dangerous Marxist, who would destroy our country. Jeremy Hunt will do none of these three things, I fear, because at heart he is a Remainer. Does this sound familiar? We must not vacillate or delay any longer if we are to retain trust between the electorate and parliament. Time to move on. A climate change protest also took place today. I do respect their views. Shall we say the more reasonable ones. I also understand the passion that many feel about this topic. But we must act in the country's best interests and of course head for a greener future but not at the price of our economy and jobs. And of course whatever does drive our economy and homes must both work and be affordable.
