Out to Dorchester first thing for one of my regular meetings with council officials and our senior cllr Jeff Cant. It lasted about an hour and we went through an agenda that covered many key areas. Back to the office afterwards, and then to Vespasian House to meet Tim Goodson, CEO of Dorset CCG, Dr Karen Kirkham, Locality Lead for the CCG, Phil Richardson, Chief System Integration Officer, Patricia Miller, CEO DCH, Debbie Fleming, Chief Executive Poole Hospital, and Ron Shields, CEO of Dorset Healthcare. I was most grateful for this high-powered meeting and we discussed several issues, including continued paediatric and maternity care at DCH, A&E moving from Poole to Bournemouth, the provision for autism and the closure of a surgery in Weymouth. What was said was in confidence, but the meeting was helpful and informative. Understandably, constituents are concerned about healthcare coverage in Dorset and I am doing my best to reassure, based on the facts.
