Today a terrorist, torturer and common thug died. For IRA commander Martin McGuinness was all these things, while pretending to serve his 'cause' for freedom. What nonsense. God knows how many deaths and maimings he is responsible for. And it must be remembered that it was only after the British army defeated the IRA militarily did this man decide to chose the ballot box rather than the bullet. I have been appalled at the lengthy news coverage by the BBC and the many apologists who have attempted to water down what this thug stood for, not least Mr Blair and Mr Hain. This is not to say that the Protestant thugs behaved any better; they did not. Both sides are equally guilty of brainless thuggery and violence, the like of which is seldom seen. Meanwhile, in the Commons I attended a meeting organised by those who live in park homes. They were protesting against the 10 per cent commission imposed on them by owners, who claim they need it to run the sites. I was due to meet a constituent but she failed to appear and instead I spoke to one of the organisers who handed me a leaflet that lay out their beef. I have sent that on to the minister. Then a little later I and many other MPs met the Secretary of State for Education, Justine Greening, at a private meeting to air our concerns. It was private but I can report we all had a lot to say!
